Seven Generations

In every deliberation, we must consider the impact of our decisions on the next seven generations.” — The Iroquois Confederacy

Seven Generations was formed in 1989, for the purpose of acquiring land and real property to hold and protect as a heritage for the future. Its purpose is to preserve, protect and restore exceptional land, and to explore ecologically sustainable uses of land, water, air and other natural resources. Seven Generations supports use of trust properties for environmental research and models of environmentally sustainable agriculture, as well as for other bioregionally appropriate land-based uses.

These lands, held in trust for perpetuity, are managed in ways which not only protect their natural elements, but also the cultural heritage. They offer opportunities to promote public awareness and appreciation of those natural elements.

Seven Generations’ mission is a commitment and service to the values of ecology, community development, sustainable agriculture, appropriate technology, education, personal and spiritual growth, aesthetic development and appreciation, harmonious relationships and communication. Seven Genreations is committed in its projects to holistic, integrated design and management approaches, such as permaculture and deep ecology.

A part of Seven Generations’ mission and purpose is to foster public awareness and understanding of philosophies, ethics and values which encourage non-exploitative land use and ownership, and value the preservation of the natural environment and culture for future generations.

Seven Generations is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization. All contributions and donations are fully tax-deductible to the extent prescribed by law.
